In the Read+ Lower Primary programme, our students will cement their foundation in English. Similar to the Kindergarten level, it adopts a four-pronged approach towards language acquisition and fluency in our students. To begin, we aim to amplify our students’ love for reading by immersing them in more challenging chapter books of various genres. These selected chapter books will assist students in engaging with intermediate English language components and skills. Honing grammatical rules, elevating vocabulary knowledge and cultivating a critical appreciation of comprehension forms the backbone of the Read+ Lower Primary programme. Every lesson will devote time for students to delve into thoughtful analysis of the linguistic and literary elements found in the chosen chapter book. Throughout the term, our students will experience in-depth weekly lessons dedicated to three pillars of the English language – Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Our Grammar lessons will see students perfecting their understanding of how sentences are constructed and presented. Vocabulary lessons will serve as an extension of the Grammar component, ensuring that students have their language capacity stretched to express themselves appropriately through writing and speech. Finally, Comprehension lessons will have students analyse fiction and non-fiction texts as a means to enhance their inference skills and achieve higher levels of understanding. In the Read+ Middle Primary programme, our students will be encouraged to broaden their horizons through reading although specific chapter book discussions will not be included in the curriculum. In order to supplement the development of language and comprehension skills alongside their passion for reading, a booklist of age-appropriate titles will nevertheless be provided to our students each term. With that, our students will continue to solidify their understanding of the more complex skills required to fully appreciate the language. They will sharpen their application of grammar, refine their vocabulary awareness and enhance their textual engagement. The Read+ Middle Primary programme adopts a three-pronged approach towards language acquisition and eloquence in our students. Throughout the term, students will experience in-depth weekly lessons dedicated to three pillars of the English language – Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Our Grammar lessons will see students introduced to more challenging rules surrounding sentence construction and presentation. Vocabulary lessons will serve as an extension of the Grammar component, ensuring that students have their language capacity maximised to express themselves freely and correctly through various mediums. Finally, Comprehension lessons will have students examine fiction and non-fiction texts as a means to imbue higher-order analytical skills. In the Read+ Upper Primary programme, our students will hone their critical reading skills to effectively meet the demands of mainstream national or international examinations. Our students will cement their understanding of the commonly tested language components through the fine-tuning of their grammar, vocabulary and textual prowess. Not only that, to complement our students’ growing toolkit of language and comprehension skills, a booklist tailored to their age-group will be provided each term for their casual reading. Through this programme, students will be equipped with the skills necessary to be successful both in the classroom and beyond its boundaries. The Read+ Upper Primary programme adopts an extensive three-pronged approach towards language acquisition and application in our students. Throughout the term, students will experience in-depth weekly lessons dedicated to the three pillars of the English language – Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Our Grammar lessons will see students consolidating their knowledge of commonly examined grammar rules. Vocabulary lessons will fortify the Grammar component, ensuring that students have a substantial knowledge pool of words to address their assessment and examination demands. Finally, Comprehension lessons will have students examine fiction and non-fiction texts to revise and practise the invaluable skills needed to successfully tackle this challenging component in assessments and examinations.
